Create custom projects using precision cutting and engraving with the library’s xTool P2 Laser Engraver and Cutter. Watch the example below to see it in action.
To submit your project for the Laser Engraver, email idealab@whitelakelibrary.org with the subject line of “Laser Engraver” and attach your file, image, or project content. Include any other relevant information (e.g., size details, material details).
Accepted file formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .svg, .dxf, .webp. Images with transparent backgrounds work best.
After submitting your file, library staff will review it and determine if your project can be completed and the estimated processing time. Staff will follow up to arrange payment of the maintenance fee. Please allow 1–2 weeks for project completion.
$5.00 maintenance fee per project, collected before engraving begins.
The library recommends xTool selected materials for best results. “Laser Blanks” can also be purchased at craft retailers such as Michaels and Amazon. Glowforge-brand materials are compatible as well. For questions, email idealab@whitelakelibrary.org.
Metal & Glass Engraving: The xTool P2 can engrave (but not cut) on coated or anodized metals and glass. For stainless steel, a spray coating is required before marking.
Library staff will size or adjust images only as needed for engraving. Designs are processed as submitted. Refunds are not issued for quality issues caused by image or material limitations. Please provide a small test material piece when possible to help ensure best quality.
