What is a seed library?

Here at White Lake Township Library we have a growing collection of seeds. These seeds are free to take and grow, and if you wish, you may save seeds to return at the end of the growing season.

How does it work?
At our adult reference desk, let the librarian know you wish to check out seeds. First time borrowers will need to fill out a Seed Library Membership form. Once your Membership form is complete, you can select your seeds (10 packs per season) and record your choices on the Seed Record found on the back of your Membership form. Repeat borrowers simply need to record their choices on their Seed Record. Current inventory of our seed collection can be found here. There are two tabs, Vegtables, Fruits & Herbs, and Flowers along the top.

Can I donate seeds?
Yes, you may donate any leftover seeds and seeds you have grown as long as they are not hybrid seeds. Please refer to our WLTL Seed Saving spreadsheet for information on how to properly save, dry, and store seeds before donation. More information about saving seeds can be found here. There are two tabs, Vegtables, Fruits & Herbs, and Flowers along the top.

Books:
We have a wide selection of books on several different gardening subjects. These are always available for checkout and can be found in the 630’s section of our Adult Non-Fiction Collection.

Seeds in our collection have been donated by:

White Lake Tractor Supply
Bogie Lake Greenhouses
White Lake Home Depot
Lowe's of White Lake
